I grew up in competitive age group swimming. It used to be A.A.U. Swimming but now that I am old (ha, never!...) it is U.S. Swimming. Swimming gave me the foundation for maintaining my ASRA (Almost Serious Recreational Athlete) standing. That means I do it to socialize with some crazy people! Too bad swimming is such a small part of triathlon!
Duathlon and triathlon have given me a lot. I started in 1982 at the Heart O' Dixie Triathlon in Philadelphia. Philadelphia, Mississippi that is! (home of running back Marcus Dupre') The race is still in existence and is a good one. Hot, but good.
Since I have passed the 30 year mark (15 years ago) and pain is not quite as enjoyable as it used to be, I now enjoy endurance type races. I got the most out of the Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon (1998), Ironman Florida (1999), my ATTEMPT at the Western States 100 (mile trail run) of which I only made 62, and a local adventure race called Fred & Shannon's Adventure Race (which no team has ever completed within the prescribed time!) in support of a GOOD CAUSE. Another cool race is Sunmart Texas Trail Endurance Run.
I am also interested in internet, computers and most consumer electronics. Here are a few links that I visit regularly:
Pricewatch.com - Great resource for pricing electronics, especially computer components.
Irfanview - Awesome graphics viewer, will handle almost any format, features a slideshow function, and it's FREE!
Tom's Hardware - Way to technical info on computer hardware and configurations.
